How Trans-Resveratrol Can Help You Fight Cancer And Heart Disease
Trans-resveratrol is proving effective in the fight against degenerative disease, and there are many who believe it can be effective in the fight against aging. The most recent test have been carried out on human volunteers, and the results are highly significant. Previous tests had only been carried out on laboratory animals with extremely short lifespans. This was to show whether or not resveratrol has an effect on the aging process. The results showed that, in animals at least, it did have.
There has been no opportunity for trials to be carried out on human volunteers over a long enough period to determine whether or not such results would be duplicated. What has been proven in trials carried out over much shorter periods of time is that resveratrol has an effect on cholesterol levels, and is therefore useful in preventing heart disease. The low density lipoproteins which are harmful are reduced, and the high density lipoproteins which are beneficial to health are actually increased.
If you wish to use resveratrol as a preventative against aging, you are going to need to take its effectiveness on trust. With no definitive clinical evidence to support it, you will need a leap of faith. The extreme difference between the bodies and lifespans of human beings and small animals means that there is no guarantee that the results from the animal experiments will be repeated. That is not, of course, to say that they won't be. At the very least, there are side benefits to giving the supplement a try.
Another factor to consider is the financial expense, which will vary from person to person. It is not necessarily a case of having to buy the supplements in capsule form. Indeed, doubts have been expressed as to how much actual resveratrol there is in these supplements. If you are someone who eats a lot of fruit, you could simply swap some of your other fruit for grapes which contain resveratrol. A wine drinker could simply switch from drinking white wine to red, making sure that the type of red wine chosen is one with a high resveratrol content.
Of course, it has to be said that neither resveratrol nor any other supplement is a miracle cure for anything. If you take a supplement aimed at extending your lifespan, but then neglect to make the necessary lifestyle changes to go with it, you are only defeating yourself. The use of resveratrol needs to be combined with an overall healthy lifestyle. Excess intake of alcohol, sugar, salt, and refined carbohydrate will interfere with the body's absorption of many necessary nutrients, resveratrol included. The worst foreign substance of all is nicotine. Avoid smoking at all costs if you wish to hold back the aging process by using trans-resveratrol.
